Kankon

Kankon (or Canacona) is a city of 11,900 inhabitants situated in the district of South Goa, in the federated territory of Goa. Based on the number of inhabitants, the city falls in Class IV (10,000 to 19,999 people). The city is located at lat 15°1′0 N, long 74°1′0 E, and lies at an altitude of 9 m above sea level.

Demography

According to the 2001 census, the population of Kankon totaled 11,900 persons, of whom 6,196 were males and 5,704 were females. Children aged less than or equal to six years totaled 1,217, of which 614 were males and 603 were females. Finally, 8,602 inhabitants of Kankon knew how to read and write, of whom 4,824 were males and 3,778 were females.
